"Crown Prince Rudolf is dead! He was found lifeless in his hunting lodge Mayerling! Accident, murder or suicide ? Was he alone ? This was the headline in the yellow press in the winter of 1889 after the tragedy at Mayerling.

We take you to the scene of the drama (to Rudolfs hunting lodge Mayerling) that shocked the Imperial Court. We will tell you how it came to that affair, what really happened and what were the consequences of this murderous love story for the Austrian monarchy.

Mayerling and Heuriger. The tour takes you through the romantic Helenental Valley located in the southern Vienna Woods to Mayerling. We will vistit the hunting lodge where you will learn more about the tragic story. Then we proceed to the famous wine village Gumpoldskirchen and we will relax there at one of the numerous Heurigen (typical Austrian wine tavern). In the evening we will return to Vienna.

Mayerling and Heiligenkreuz Abbey. Option instead of the visit at the wine tavern: a guided tour of the Cistercian monastery of Heiligenkreuz, founded in the medieval times. Its monks hit the international charts with their sacred CD "Music for Paradise". You will see the medieval cloister and learn interesting facts about the monks life once and now.
